Training Workshop on Protection and Crisis Management for Protection Committees in Ardamata and Riyad Camps
Start Date : 02 Mei 2026
Status : Ongoing
The organization “Voice of Peace”, in partnership with UNHCR and in coordination with HOPE, organized a specialized training workshop on protection and crisis management for members of protection committees in Ardamata Camp and Riyad Camp.
This training was implemented as part of a broader intervention to improve the well-being of vulnerable populations, particularly children, women, and persons with special needs, while strengthening community-based mechanisms for prevention and response to protection risks.
The workshop focused on equipping participants with both conceptual and practical
knowledge. It introduced the core principles of protection, including definitions, types, and frameworks used in humanitarian contexts. Special attention was given to identifying vulnerable groups, with emphasis on persons with disabilities and at-risk populations within displacement settings. In addition, the training addressed child protection, clarifying the concept of the child, key rights that must be safeguarded, and common protection risks affecting children in camps.
A critical component of the training was dedicated to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), where participants explored its different forms, underlying causes, risk factors in camp environments, and appropriate prevention and response strategies. This was complemented by sessions on crisis management, focusing on preparedness, coordination, and effective response during emergencies.
The workshop also aimed to enhance the operational capacity of the targeted committees by strengthening their ability to analyze risks, coordinate interventions, and respond efficiently to crises and protection incidents. Participants were encouraged to adopt structured approaches in handling emergencies, ensuring that responses are timely, inclusive, and aligned with humanitarian protection standards.
According to the banner details, the activity falls within a structured program with a defined implementation period (May 2025) and is funded by UNHCR, reflecting a coordinated effort to build sustainable community-level protection systems within displacement settings.
Overall, the training represents a strategic step toward reinforcing community resilience, empowering local protection committees in Ardamata and Riyad camps to play a proactive role in safeguarding vulnerable groups and mitigating the impact of crises through informed, organized, and context-sensitive responses.
