Voice of Peace Organization Conducts a Recreational and Psychosocial Support Day for Students of Um Duwain Basic School, West Darfur – El Geneina
Start Date : 10 April 2026
Status : Completed
On the morning of 6 March 2024, the Voice of Peace Organization organized a recreational and psychosocial support day for the pupils of Um Duwain Basic School in El Geneina, West Darfur State.
This activity was implemented as part of the project titled “Psychosocial Support for War-Affected Communities in El Geneina Locality.” The program lasted approximately three hours and included a wide range of educational and recreational activities, such as poetry recitation, drawing, singing, theatrical performances, and various interactive games.
As part of the event, a special children’s art exhibition was organized to showcase the creative works of students from Um Duwain Basic School. The exhibition featured children’s drawings promoting themes of life, peace, and hope.
The exhibition aimed to promote a culture of peace and the importance of living in safety and security as fundamental rights of every child. It reflected the children’s aspirations for a happy and peaceful life, free from conflict and its consequences. In addition, the exhibition served as an important form of psychosocial support by encouraging self expression, enhancing self-worth, and fostering a sense of recognition and appreciation among the children.
The artwork clearly demonstrated that, despite the difficult living conditions and the ongoing armed conflict affecting the country, children continue to view their homeland with optimism, hope, and a strong desire for a life of dignity and peace.
The Voice of Peace Organization highly commends the children for this meaningful and inspiring work.
In conclusion, the organization extends its sincere appreciation to the school administration, represented by Mr. Abubakar Abbas, the School Principal, and his esteemed staff, for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. The organization also expresses its gratitude to the respected community leaders of Um Duwain, with special recognition to Mr. Mohamed Al-Sharif Karmika, for their valuable support and cooperation.
