VOP Participation in High-Level Coordination Meeting with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan
VOP Participation in High-Level Coordination Meeting with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan
Start Date : 02 Mei 2026
Status : Ongoing
On 7 October 2025, the organization “Voice of Peace (VOP)” was officially invited by the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan to participate in a high-level coordination meeting held at the WR office. The meeting took place in the presence of the newly appointed Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan and her team, reflecting a strategic effort to engage national organizations in shaping the humanitarian response framework.
The discussion was both constructive and outcome-oriented, centering on the escalating humanitarian crisis driven by ongoing conflict and large-scale displacement across Sudan. Participants reviewed the magnitude of needs on the ground, particularly in relation to protection, basic services, and community resilience, while also actnowledging the significant gap between needs and current response capacity.
A key focus of the meeting was the operational challenges facing humanitarian actors, especially national NGOs such as VOP. These challenges include limited access to sustainable funding, constraints in scaling interventions, and the complexity of building effective partnerships within a highly dynamic and resource-constrained environment. The dialogue emphasized the importance of localization, recognizing the critical role of national organizations in frontline response despite limited institutional support.
The meeting also created space to explore practical pathways for strengthening coordination mechanisms, enhancing information-sharing, and improving alignment between international and national actors. Particular attention was given to how partnerships can be structured to ensure more inclusive, efficient, and context-sensitive humanitarian interventions.
VOP’s participation in this meeting represents an important milestone in advocating for community-level priorities and amplifying the voice of national actors within broader humanitarian coordination platforms. It also reinforces the organization’s commitment to contributing to a more coherent, collaborative, and responsive humanitarian system.
Overall, the meeting marks a positive and strategic step forward toward reinforcing partnerships, improving resource mobilization, and ensuring a more coordinated and impactful response to the urgent humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
